Description
Cooking Tips
For the best results, thaw steaks slowly in the refrigerator before cooking.
Pan Sear — Recommended
Remove steaks from packaging and pat dry. Season generously with salt and pepper. Preheat a heavy skillet over high heat and add a small amount of oil.
Sear for approximately 3–4 minutes per side, depending on desired doneness and thickness. For extra flavor, add butter, garlic, and fresh herbs during the final minute and baste the steak.
Allow the steak to rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Grill
Preheat grill to high heat. Lightly oil and season the steaks. Grill approximately 3–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness.
Oven Finish
For thicker steaks, sear first in a hot oven-safe skillet, then transfer to a preheated 400°F (205°C) oven until the desired internal temperature is reached.
Recommended Internal Temperatures
- Rare: 125°F (52°C)
- Medium Rare: 135°F (57°C)
- Medium: 145°F (63°C)
- Medium Well: 150°F (66°C)
- Well Done: 160°F (71°C)
Temperatures will continue to rise slightly while the steak rests. For food-safety purposes, follow applicable Canadian food-safety recommendations.
Handling & Storage
- Keep frozen at -18°C (0°F) or below.
- Thaw under refrigeration.
- Keep refrigerated while thawing.
- Once thawed, use within 1–2 days.
- Do not refreeze after thawing.
- Cook to your preferred level of doneness while following safe food-handling practices.
